Tiger-Mate 255 Field Cultivator
Look to the Tiger-Mate 255 for the durability and Agronomic Design™ features you need to create a high-efficiency seedbed for more efficient planting and maximum yield.

Setting New Standards for Seedbed Prep

The industry’s leading field cultivator keeps getting better. The Tiger-Mate 255 sets new standards for seedbed preparation with advanced features that include an enhanced shank assembly, split-the-middle sweep design and single-point hydraulic depth control. All work together to create an ideal growing environment for your crop under any field conditions.

Start Fast, Finish Strong

  • Crops yield better when they get off to a quick, uniform start.
  • At speeds up to 10 mph, the Tiger-Mate 255 readies your fields faster and more efficiently than other tillage tools.
  • Capitalize on your planter’s potential productivity levels to achieve maximum yield potential.

Create the Ideal Seedbed

  • The Tiger-Mate 255 creates a consistently smooth soil surface, along with a level subsurface floor for precise seed placement at any planting speed.
  • Ensure excellent seed-to-soil contact, robust root development and optimal plant access to nutrients, air and water.

Handle Tough Conditions

  • Break down tough soil clods and enhance particle sizing and mixing.
  • Get better leveling, even in high-residue fields.
  • Heavy-duty components ensure reliable and low-maintenance operation.

Firm Yet Flexible Shank

The workhorse component of the Tiger-Mate 255 is the superior shank assembly, combining force and flexibility to support field speeds of up to 10 miles per hour. Thicker shanks, a beefed-up shank guard channel and increased holding power help you manage fast-changing springtime field conditions.

Better Soil and Residue Management

  • Swept back, high-concavity shank design helps soil ramp up and explode higher to effectively mix particles, break down tough clods and level the soil.
  • Thicker, stronger shanks — 11/16-inch compared with the previous 5/8-inch — match to spring pressure for ideal performance.
  • Greater residue throughput thanks to 6.5-inch shank spacing that ensures better soil mixing and improved residue distribution.

Increased Spring Force

  • Greater spring force delivers a 20 percent increase in holding power, allowing the field cultivator to penetrate hard soils, even at higher speeds.
  • Proportional increase in spring force and shank thickness keeps sweeps parallel to the ground for a consistently flat subsurface floor, more accurate seed placement and uniform seedling emergence.

Enhanced Durability

  • Shank guard channel ensures stability through turns and provides even loading and added durability.
  • A 5/8-inch main shank pivot bolt holds tight to stabilize spring pressure and improves the durability of the dual bushing pivot point.
  • Low-maintenance features include clamp-style shank mounts, single-bolt installation, welded cylinder and greaseless bearings.

Sweep Pattern for Better Agronomics

Built with Case IH Agronomic Design principles, the Tiger-Mate 255 features our exclusive split-the-middle sweep pattern and proven sweep designs. The results? Better soil tilth, healthy root development, and optimal soil and residue incorporation.

Split-the-Middle Sweep Pattern

  • Features 26-inch side-by-side shank clearance for improved residue flow.
  • Combined with the 6.5-inch shank spacing, this sweep pattern ensures 100 percent sweep coverage.
  • With a 5-bar frame, the first three shank rows take full cuts through the soil, while the two rear shank rows take smaller cuts to remove the middle.

Sweep Options

  • Sweep options for the Tiger-Mate 255 include Maxxi-Point™, Maxxi-Grip™ and Maxxi-Point Plus™.
  • The 7.5-inch standard sweep is ideal for smaller, more precise clod sizing. Nine-inch sweeps are also an option. Either sweep option can be bolt-on or knock-on for quick sweep changes.
  • A unique rear-flowing parabolic sweep design creates superior soil and residue flow along the entire width of the unit.
  • Rocks and obstacles are no match for Tiger-Mate sweeps, made from high-strength Earth Metal® alloy steel composition.

Rugged and Reliable From End to End

Durability and reliability have made Tiger-Mate the go-to field cultivator family. You can count on the Tiger-Mate 255 to deliver more uptime and fewer headaches come spring.

Outstanding Frame Design

  • Exclusive, welding bridge frame stands up to variable conditions under higher field speeds.
  • Frame is strong, yet designed to flex through difficult soil conditions.
  • 25-inch underframe clearance keeps residue flowing for greater productivity.
  • Wings fold together quickly and efficiently, with equal loading for longer frame life.

Wheels and Tire Options

  • Walking tandems and gauge wheels on the Tiger-Mate 255 main frame and wings provide a smooth ride and reduce compaction, wing bounce and nosing.
  • Offset walking-tandem design offers balance and stability.
  • Optional stubble-resistant radial tires are an industry first — improving flotation, reducing compaction and maximizing durability

Tractor Hitch Design

  • A floating hitch option on Tiger-Mate double-fold units allows the implement to run independently of the tractor. With better ground contour following, the sweeps are constantly engaged from front to rear for accurate, consistent depth across uneven terrain.
  • Choose electronic or hydraulic hookups to match harrow options and towing needs.
  • Swivel hose boom design protects and stores hoses away from the hitch.

Reduced Maintenance, Increased Uptime

  • Durable construction and welded cylinders mean greater reliability.
  • Greaseless bearings and bushings displaces over 40 grease points on the double-fold unit and over 20 points on the single-fold models. Each displaced grease point saves about one minute in time to access and grease.
  • Equates to 40 acres of productivity gained with the 60-foot model, assuming a ground speed that allows you to cover approximately 1 acre per minute.

Fine-tune Your Unit for Any Field

Achieve uniform soil surfaces under varying field conditions with easy-to-use machine leveling and depth control features of the Tiger-Mate 255 field cultivator.

Quick and Easy Depth Control

  • Adjust depth quickly and easily across a variety of fields and conditions with a single-point hydraulic depth control system.
  • System maintains equal depth across the implement. No need to manually adjust depth on each wing and main frame.
  • Weighted handle eliminates unwanted adjustments while running.

No-tool Machine Leveling

  • Achieve fast and easy machine leveling, both side-to-side and fore-to-aft.
  • Turnbuckle adjustments require no tools.
  • Built-in handle cranks are effortless to operate.

Achieve the Perfect Finish

Multiple finishing tool options on the Tiger-Mate 255 field cultivator allow you to select the perfect finish for your soil type and farming practices. With industry-leading down pressure consistency, our Advanced Conditioning Systems (ACS) harrows are proven to maximize seed-to-soil contact in the final pass before planting.

3-bar Spike-tooth ACS Harrow

  • Paired with the Case IH TigerPaw™ Crumbler® rolling reel, this high-iron harrow aggressively breaks up clods, evenly distributes crop residue and levels the soil for a smooth finish.
  • The larger formed bar on the Crumbler adds clod-busting power and excellent durability.
  • Best choice for tough clods in forest soils prone to cloudiness.

2-bar Tiger-Tine ACS Harrow With ACS Roundbar Crumbler

  • This option provides moderate clod sizing and seedbed forming.
  • Indexed tines improve soil leveling.
  • Parallel linkage and non-linked tine bars eliminate depth and level setting.
  • Ideal for mellow or sandy loam soils found in prairie type soils.

4-bar Tiger-Tine Harrow

  • Three tine angle position adjustments for flexible soil finish.
  • Indexed tines improve soil leveling.
  • Parallel linkage and non-linked tine bars eliminate depth and level setting.
